Betrayal Like No Other: The Ultimate Cold and Exquisite Revenge

**A Betrayal That Never Faded**

Thirty-five years together. Nearly half a lifetime. James and Evelyn. It began like something from an old noveldancing in the rain, conversations until dawn, shared dreams of a cottage with a garden. Evelyn was petite, quiet, delicate, but with a core of steel. James, ambitious, eyes always alight, forever chasing something more.

They weathered poverty, debts, moves across counties, losses. When James built his business from nothing, it was Evelyn who held everything togetherhome, children, bills, illnesses. When success finally came, bringing comfort and stability, James fell in love. With the new secretary, long-legged, who laughed at his jokes and lingered just a second too long when she touched his arm.

He made his choice quickly. Hired expensive solicitors to keep the housethe one theyd built brick by brick, renovated together, where Evelyn had planted roses and stitched cushion covers. The home that had once been their shared dream.

The court gave the house to James. Evelyn had two months to leave. But she was gone in two days. No tears, no scene. Silent. Packed her things, called the removals. And as a parting gift, she scattered bits of boiled fish throughout the housetucked in the curtains, beneath the sills, inside the vents. Leftovers from the farewell dinner shed made for herself at the empty table.

James new love moved into the “dream home” days later. Everything seemed perfect: the light, the space, the fireplace, the veranda. But within 24 hours, a foul stench seeped into the walls. Nothing could erase itnot scrubbing, not incense, not renovations.

The stench grew worse. They washed floors, replaced carpets, left windows open. Bought air purifiers. Useless. Friends stopped visiting. No one could bear the smell.

James tried to sell. But word spread through the village. Buyers fled after ten minutes. Estate agents refused to touch it. The house had become cursed.

The couple took out a hefty loan for a new place. The money ran dry. Until Evelyn called:
*”How are things, James?”*
*”Awful,”* he admitted, broken. *”The house wont sell. Were ruined.”*
*”How odd,”* she replied, calm. *”You know, I miss that house. Would you sell it back to me? For say, 10% of its value?”*

James nearly wept with relief. He agreed instantly. Ten percent? A small price to rid himself of the nightmare.

The next day, Evelyn arrived with a notary. Papers signed in minutes. The couple fled to their new home. She stepped into the empty house, took a deep breathand smiled for the first time in years.

But the story wasnt over.

The couple had taken everything from the old housefurniture, curtains, even the curtain rods! Especially the rods. James wouldnt leave a single thing for his ex-wife. Hed unscrewed them himself. And with them, he carried the source of the smell.

In their new home, the stench appeared the very next morning.

Evelyn had known it would. And she never called again.

Now, in her cottage, she enjoys silence, clean walls, and roses in bloom. While James lives in a curse of his own making. For betrayal. For pride. For forgetting who stood by him when he had nothing.

**Lesson learned: Some debts arent paid in pounds, but in consequences.**
