I Realized My Ex-Husband Was Cheating Because He Suddenly Started Sweeping the Road — How a Suburban…

on

You know, I figured out my ex-husband was cheating on me because he started sweeping the street. I know it sounds ridiculous, but thats exactly how it happened. He was an electrician and worked from home, had his own workshop out in our garage, and was always busy with wires, tools, and customers. He never bothered much with cleaning or chores around the house. Not out of laziness, mind youhe just didnt like it. Whenever he had extra time, hed rather unwind watching footie on telly, have a pint with the lads, or fire up the barbecue. He was a really laid-back sort. He wasnt the party-going type, never aggressive or the kind to make you suspicious about anything.

Our streets a bit old-fashionedgravelly, wide, lined with big oak trees, always covered with leaves, dust, and the occasional bit of mud. Sweeping was a never-ending battle, really. Normally, I’d do it first thing while sorting breakfast. Then, one day, we got a new neighbour next door. Nothing out of the ordinarypeople rented that house all the time, so new faces coming and going wasnt a shock.

A couple of months after she moved in, he suddenly starts offering:
No, dont worry, Ill sweep today.
At first, I thought it was sweet. Used the extra time to wash up, clean the bathroom, tidy about. Never paid it much attention, no reason to, really.

But he started doing it every single day. And always at the exact same timeseven in the morning. Not a minute before or after. Thats what struck me as odd, since he was never one for strict routines, except for work. Eventually, just out of sheer curiosity, I glanced out the window.

And there he was. Broom in hand, not actually sweeping, just chatting away. Smiling. And right in front of himour new neighbour. Coincidence, I thought. But then it happened the next day. And the next. Every time he went out, so did she. Almost like they were planning it.

So, I started paying closer attention. It wasnt just mornings. One Saturday, he told me he fancied going out for a pint with mates. Nothing strange there. But when he left, I got this funny feeling, so I peeked outside. Saw her leaving at the exact same time. She called out
Oh, hi there, neighbour! Have a good evening!
He responded as if it was the most normal thing in the world. Then she added:
What a coincidence, Im off the same way!
And off they went together.

The next weekend, he said he was off to play footballa rare thing for him. Left the house, and sure enough, she followed minutes later, chatting on her phone, headed in the same direction.

I had no proof. No messages, no photos, nothing really. Just patterns. Times. Coincidences that started feeling anything but.

One day, I just confronted him. Didnt ask, just came right out:
I know youre with the neighbour.
He looked at me, totally stunned. Denied it at first, but I told him:
Ive seen you both. Every single day. Please, just dont lie.
He went quiet, looked at the floor, then finally said:
Yeah. I am. Im in love with her.
I yelled at him to get out. No kids, nothing tying us together anymore, so there wasnt really anything to sort out. The most ironic bit? He moved in right next door, with her.

Didnt last long, though. Maybe a couple of months, and then they were gone. Nobody really knows what happened. They left town, and Ive never heard from either of them again. The neighbours gossiped, so did the relatives, but honestly? I never wanted to know what happened next.
