My Son’s Wife Can’t Even Clean Up After Herself! In the End, They Finally Moved Out of My House

Published

on

I was only twenty-two when I found myself alone, husbandless, cradling little David in my arms. My son was just two at the time. My husband walked out because hed grown weary of the endless worrieshaving to earn money and spend it on his family.

He didnt care for it. Why bother spending your earnings on the family when you could lavish them on yourself and your mistress? Whatever kind of husband he was, life became simpler for me after he left. With his departure, all responsibility fell squarely on my shoulders. I enrolled David in nursery and went out to work myself. I remember, there were days I was so worn out I could barely feel my legs, yet my home always remained tidy, meals were cooked, and my child was well-fed and clean.

My mother instilled these habits in me, and our generation was made of sterner stuff. I admit I spoiled my son a bit. At twenty-seven, David doesnt even know how to fry an egg. But recently, he married, and I thought at last hed found a wife who would care for this overgrown child, leaving me to enjoy my hobbies and perhaps pursue other ventures, maybe even a new job. In short, I looked forward to living quietly, just for myself.

Then David told me he and his wife would be staying with me for a while. Naturally, I wasnt especially delighted, but agreedwhat could I do? Let them stay, I said. Shell cook for David, wash his clothes, and Ill have the patience to carry on for a short while. But it was not to be. Kate turned out to be quite a character. She wouldnt clear the table after eating, never washed the dishes, nor did the laundry for herself or David, didnt even bother with a simple sweep of the roomshe did nothing at all.

For three months, I cared for three people. Did I need this? What did my daughter-in-law do? Since David decided hed provide for the household, Kate didnt work. From morning until evening, until David returned from his job, she was either out with friends in town or glued to her phone. And I worked all the while. When I got home, the place was a mess, belongings scattered everywhere, the fridge empty, not a bite ready. I had to pop off to the grocers, buy the food, cook everything, and then scrub the dishes. Kate had not a trace of conscience. There was even a time shed wander in while I was washing dishes, handing me a plate shed kept in her room for days. Shed forgotten itby then, it was crawling with flies and goodness knows what.

The next time Kate brought me a plate, I told her right away that if she had any sense of decency, she might at least wash up once in a while. And what do you think happened? Did she apologise or lift a finger? No, the very next day, after a row, she and David packed up and rented a flat. My son even told me I was trying to destroy his family. With what? By suggesting my daughter-in-law wash a single plate now and then?

Well, thank heavens, I now live in peace and cleanliness, and no longer have to tidy up after anyone. These young folk today, honestly, are absolutely useless. They dont know how to do a thing.
