After Giving Birth to My Daughter and Raising Her Alone, My Parents Initially Offered Amazing Support – But Their Recent Actions Are Absolutely Shocking
Even before I gave birth, I knew I’d raise my child alone. When the father found out, he begged me through tears to end the pregnancy. I stood my ground. Thankfully, my parents supported me wholeheartedly, urging me to have the baby, promising they’d take care of everything. And they really did. My boyfriend vanished with no trace, but Mum and Dad were over the moon, thrilled to welcome a granddaughter. Dad had a good job, earning enough to take on all the family’s financial burdens. Mum was always diligent, keeping our home spotless and cooking every meal for us.
Whenever I tried to contribute money to the household, Dad would immediately hand it back, saying, “Why put your child’s money with ours? Use it for your daughter.” And if I offered help in the kitchen, Mum would insist, “Don’t trouble yourself. Stay with your daughter, I’ll handle the cooking.” Eventually, when I returned to work, I began picking up household essentials, but these were merely token gestures. Mum took charge of the chores and cared for my daughter without complaint.
On the surface, everything seemed perfect, but the moment a man appeared in my life, my parents grew deeply anxious. “Haven’t you learned anything? They’re all the same. He’ll leave you, and you’ll end up pregnant again!” The older my daughter grew, the tighter their control became.
They treated me as though I were still in school. Mum called me constantly, asking where I was, when I’d be home, who I was speaking to, what I’d eaten. After work, Dad insisted on walking me home every day. Eventually, another man came into my life. When Mum found out I had a date, she clutched her chest, feigning health issues and begging me not to leave her side.
It took a toll on my relationship. My partner canceled our first date, then the second, then the third. By the tenth, he simply called off everything. He met someone whose mother wasn’t ailing and wasn’t suffocating her life.
At first, the parents were delighted that their son was bringing home his bride, but when they finally met her, they asked their son to give up all the gifts she had given!
