**Diary Entry A Fresh Start in the Countryside**

During the divorce, my wealthy husband, Edward Whitmore, decided to leave me with nothing but a derelict farm in the middle of nowhere. A year later, something happened that completely stunned him.

Edward, you know I dont need you here, right? I said firmly. You should go back to the city.

What city? he muttered, exhausted. Id been betrayed by the person I trusted most, and I had no energy left to argue. Wed started from nothingsold our flat and poured everything into our business. Edward had only contributed a tiny rented room in a shared house, while Id built our success with my intelligence and hard work. We lived modestly, moving from one rental to another, but eventually, we found stability.

Over time, Edward began acting like he owned everything. Slyly, he transferred all our assets into his name, ensuring Id get nothing in the divorce. Once everything was in his control, he filed the papers.

Do you think this is fair, Edward? I asked, disappointed.

He shrugged indifferently. Dont start this again. You havent contributed in years. I do everythingyou do nothing.

You told me to take a break and focus on myself, I replied calmly.

Edward sighed irritably. Im tired of these pointless arguments. Oh, remember that old farm I inherited from my former boss, Mr. Harrison? He died and left me that worthless plot. Its perfect for you. Take it or get nothing.

I smiled bitterly. After twelve years together, I realised Id been living with a stranger.

Fine, on one conditionthe farm must be legally transferred to my name.

No problem. Ill save on taxes, he smirked.

I didnt argue further. I packed my things and moved to a hotel, determined to start overwhether it meant an abandoned farm or just empty land. Id find out when I got there. If it was hopeless, Id return to London or find another way to rebuild my life.

I loaded my car with only the essentials, leaving the rest behind with Edward and his new girlfriend. If he thought he could rely on my intelligence and experience, he was sorely mistaken. His new partner, whom Id only seen a few times, seemed more arrogant than clever.

Edward handed me the deeds with a mocking grin. Good luck.

You too, I said calmly.

Dont forget to send me a picture of the cows, he laughed.

Without responding, I shut the car door and drove away. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I left the city behind. I didnt know how long Id been crying when a gentle tap on my window snapped me back to reality.

Are you alright, love? My husband and I saw you sitting here for a while, an elderly woman asked kindly.

I glanced at her, then at the bus stop in my rearview mirror. I managed a small smile.

Im finejust overwhelmed.

She nodded sympathetically. Were just back from the hospital. Our neighbours all alone thereno one visits. Are you headed toward York?

I raised an eyebrow. York? Is that where the farm is?

Yes, though its hardly a farm now. The owner passed, and no ones looked after it. Just a few kind souls still tend to the animals.

I smiled slightly. What a coincidencethats where Im going. Hop in.

The older woman took the front seat, while her husband settled in the back.

Im Elizabeth, I said as I drove.

Im Margaret Wilson, and this is my husband, George, she replied warmly.

On the way, I learned about the farmwhod been stealing, who still cared for the animals, and how run-down it was. When we arrived, I saw empty fields and a crumbling barn with just twenty cows. Yet, I decided to stay and fight for a fresh start.

A year later, I watched proudly as eighty cows grazed peacefully on my lush green fields. Id turned that neglected farm into a thriving business. It hadnt been easyId sold my jewellery to buy feed and spent my last savings. But now, sales were growing, and my products were in demand even in neighbouring counties.

One day, a young woman named Emily brought me a newspaper ad for refrigerated lorries at a good price. I recognised the numberit belonged to Edwards company. Smirking, I asked her to call and offer 5% more, on the condition the vehicles werent shown to other buyers.

When I went to inspect them, Edward was stunned.

Youre buying these? he asked incredulously.

Yes, for the farm you gave me. Its doing wonderfullywere expanding, I replied calmly.

He was speechless. While his life was falling apart, Id left the past behind.

In the end, I found true love with James, a mechanic who helped me improve the farm. We celebrated our daughters christening togetherwhile Edward could only watch from a distance as his life unravelled.
