Heroic Brit dives into freezing pond to rescue trapped deer with bucket stuck on its head
So, picture this: the animal was spotted swimming into the Thames Estuary, just outside Southend-on-Sea, Essex, with a paint tin stuck on her head, and honestly, things werent looking good for her to make it ashore.
But out of nowhere, this hero came along and changed everything. Someone actually filmed the rescue it was pretty dramatic! Oliver, the bloke who stepped in, managed to tranquilise the deer and pop her in his van. He drove her straight to the local vet, where she got antibiotics and some pain relief, and thankfully, she was soon fit enough to be released back into the countryside.
It was actually Frankie who decided he wasnt waiting around; he dove into the water and started swimming with the deer back towards dry land. It was absolutely knackering, but he kept going, determined not to give up. When he finally reached the shore, the poor deer was so wiped out she couldnt even stand, so Frankie had to carry her all the way home himself. When he walked through the door, his mum was over the moon not just because Frankie was safe, but because the deer was rescued too!
Frankies quick thinking honestly saved her life; she was soon lying on the grass, and you could tell she was shattered but thankfully, she hadnt really hurt herself. Frankie helped her settle in a nearby field so she could recover in peace.
Trying to calm her down, Frankie actually started singing The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel can you believe it! It worked, too; the deer stopped thrashing about and slowly let Frankie guide her in.
Once they were both out of the water and back on solid ground, Frankie helped pop a lead on her and walked her gently back into the woods, safe and sound.
I love that weve got people like this honestly, were all relieved she got out okay, and fingers crossed she wont be getting herself in any more bother!
