It Was Only After Moving In With My Lover That I Realised What a Huge Mistake I Had Made

Published

My wife was always a rather shy soul. Amongst our friends, she would sit quietly, her manner gently reserved. She never spoke out first, only joining a conversation if she was directly addressed. She never caused a scene or made a fuss over jealousy. She was always attentive towards me, never demanded anything, and accepted every gift I gave with genuine gratitude.
One might have called our marriage ideal. There were no secrets between us; we faced every matter together. Whenever I returned home from work, I was greeted with a hearty meal, a tidy home, and the warm smile of my wife. What more could a man wish for?
Yet, as it so often happens in life, there was a restlessness in me. Despite this seemingly perfect family life, I found myself yearning for something more a sense of adventure, perhaps. There was an unease in our intimacy, or rather, the lack of it. The absence of closeness troubled me, so I resolved in my foolishness to seek out a lover.
My wife discovered my betrayal, and our paths parted.
I moved in with my mistress, but only then did I realise what a fool I had been. The flat was always in disorder, and not once did I come home to a warm meal. We barely had anything to talk about.
Soon enough, I longed to return to my wife, but by then it was too late. She had found someone else.
It is a regret I have carried ever since. Through my own folly, I lost the most wonderful woman I could ever have hoped to meet.
