Stop Calling Me! Why Waste Time on Something You Don’t Care About? I Realized Long Ago That Neither You Nor Your Kids Care If Grandma’s Alive or Well!

“Dont call here again! Why waste time on something you dont need? I realised long ago that neither you nor your children care whether your grandmother is alive or dead!”

The end of my studies coincided with two major eventsmy wedding and my first proper job. I started as a manager at a reputable firm. After a few years, I took maternity leave and gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Evelyn. She grew into a clever girl, so my husband and I spared no expense in sending her to a prestigious university. After graduation, my husband even secured her a fine position.

A year later, she introduced us to her fiancé. They married soon after and had childrentwin girls.

My granddaughters were eight when their grandfather, my husband, passed away. It was a terrible loss for us all. At first, Evelyn understood how hard it was for me, ringing me every evening after work, sharing little stories, while I told her how my days had been.

But then she grew busier. Whenever I called, shed invent excusesshe was cleaning, rushing out the door. Eventually, she only rang every few days, and even then, it felt like an obligation, her mind always elsewhere. One day, my patience snapped. When she called, I snapped:

“If you havent got time for your own mother, dont bother calling at all. Why ring me just to do something else while Im talking?”

She brushed it off, and I apologised. After that, she called a little morebefore slipping back to once a week.

I was wounded by her indifference. It got so bad I lost my appetite, couldnt sleep. The breaking point came when she ignored my calls for a week. So when she finally rang, I shouted:

“Dont call me again! Why waste time on something you dont need? Ive known for ages that neither you nor my granddaughters care whether I live or die. You only want my cooking and birthday presentsthats all!”

Evelyn flew into a rage. “Fine! If youre going to be so selfish, I wont call at all!” Her words made me sick. My heart poundedthen everything went black. I woke up in hospital.

A nurse listened to my story, but when I reached the end, she shook her head.

“You elderly folk forgetweve got jobs, children to raise, homes to manage. Its a struggle to fit in a proper chat. You ought to cherish the moments we remember you, even if its on the way to the shops. My advice? Find something to keep busy. Then you wont notice the days between calls.”

And she was right. When youre doing what you love, you stop worrying whether anyone cares.
