Мій син скасував весілля, бо не зійшовся з тещею.
Ми готувалися до весілля сина, який вирішив одружитися зі своєю однокурсницею. Але після візиту до її родини заявив, що весілля не буде, адже йому не сподобалася теща.
Роман і Галина зустрічалися понад рік. Вони навіть орендували спільну квартиру неподалік від університету. Я тільки раз випадково бачила дівчину сина. А Роман ще ніколи не бачив батьків Галини. Тому перед весіллям вона запросила його до себе додому, щоб познайомити з мамою й татом.
Коли син повідомив нас про заручини, ми з чоловіком раділи. Я, як мама, розділяла його щастя й дуже чекала на весілля. Але, на жаль, цього не сталося.
За кілька тижнів до весілля Роман зустрів маму Галини. Ця зустріч стала причиною, чому син відмовився від одруження.
Знайомство з майбутньою тещею не пішло гладко. Вікторія Ігорівна, так звали маму Галини, одразу ж запитала, чому Роман такий худий. Чи не голодує, чи не хворий? Як він збирається носити Галю на руках? Адже Галя — дівчина пишна!
Наш Роман — вихований і тактовний хлопець, тому промовчав. Хоча, звісно, мав що відповісти. Вікторія Ігорівна важила близько 130 кілограмів, і на її фоні наш син дійсно здавався худеньким.
Після цього Галина запросила Романа за стіл. За вечерею Вікторія Ігорівна продовжувала ставити провокаційні питання.
– Романе, скільки ти заробляєш? Чому не плануєте поїздки на відпочинок після весілля на Кіпр? Це мрія Галочки, — допитувалася Вікторія Ігорівна, почувши, що молодята хочуть скромне весілля.
– Якщо немає грошей, позич у батьків. Або звернися до мене, але під відсотки. Галина — єдина дочка. Чому вона не може мати пишне весілля та відпочинок після нього? — ставила питання Вікторія Ігорівна.
Мама Галини ніби навмисно провокувала Романа, перевіряючи його терпіння. Коли син збирався йти, теща сказала, що рада за Галину, бо попередні хлопці не пропонували їй заміжжя.
Після цього знайомства Роман повернувся додому в пригніченому настрої й розповів мені все. Зізнався, що після зустрічі з батьками Галини він передумав одружуватися.
Для нас це була шокуюча новина. Але краще зараз скасувати весілля, ніж потім жаліти. Ми підтримали Романа.
Наступного дня він мусив пояснити все Галині. Їхня зустріч видалася емоційною. Дівчина влаштувала істерику, кричала, називала Романа боягузом, стверджувала, що боїться відповідальності. Сказала, що матір тут ні при чому.
Це була їхня остання зустріч. Тепер Роман зосередився на навчанні й роботі. Він добре заробляє і планує на виплат купити квартиру. Серйозні стосунки поки що не цікавлять його.

Instead of curling up in the large kennel Andrew had lovingly built for him last summer, Duke stubbornly insisted on sleeping outside, right in the snow. Watching from his window, Andrew felt a pang of worry—Duke had never behaved like this before. Each morning, as he stepped outside, Andrew noticed Duke watching him tensely. Whenever he approached the kennel, Duke positioned himself between Andrew and the entrance, growling softly and looking at him pleadingly, as if to say: “Please, don’t go in there.” This odd behaviour was so out of character for their years of friendship, it made Andrew uneasy—what was his best friend hiding? Determined to get to the bottom of it, Andrew came up with a plan—he lured Duke into the kitchen with a tempting piece of steak. While the dog, locked inside, barked desperately at the window, Andrew crept towards the kennel and crouched down to peer inside. His heart skipped a beat as his eyes adjusted to the darkness and he saw something that froze him on the spot… …There, curled up in a blanket, was a tiny kitten—dirty, freezing, and barely breathing. Its eyes barely opened, and its frail body shivered with cold. Duke had found it somewhere, and instead of chasing it away or leaving it to its fate, he had sheltered it. He had slept outside to avoid scaring it and guarded the entrance as if there was treasure inside. Andrew held his breath. He reached out, gently lifted the tiny creature and pressed it to his chest. In that moment, Duke raced over and nestled beside his shoulder—not growling, but gently, eager to help. “You’re a good dog, Duke…” Andrew whispered, clutching the kitten. “Better than most people.” From that day on, there were no longer just two friends living in the garden, but three. And the lovingly built kennel found its purpose again—as a little home for souls in need of saving.
