Three Years After My Divorce: My Ex Has Remarried, His New Wife Demands I Stop Asking Adam for Child…

Published

on

Three years ago, I divorced my husband. Apart from our son, we had nothing in common. I wasnt even surprised when, just a month after the divorce, my ex-husband met a new young woman. Three months ago, they got married.
To be honest, it doesnt bother me anymore. But yesterday, I received a message from her that truly left me puzzled. She told me that we should leave Mark alone and stop asking him for money, as we wouldnt receive anything from now on.
My son is five. After the divorce, I was on maternity leave, so Mark was covering all our expenses. Now, I work part-time.
Right after we separated, we agreed to sell our three-bedroom flat and each move into our own placeone for my ex and another for myself and my son.
Mark pays a decent amount in child support. Still, I want to cover my own expenses, so Im always attending interviews, looking for a full-time job. Every penny Mark sends each month goes directly towards my son. This includes nursery fees, after-school activities, toys, and food. I take a small amount to help pay for household bills.
My son is keen to take up judo classes, which will need some additional funds as well.
This summer, my ex sent some extra money on the condition that I take our son on holiday. So we headed off to the Lake District. My son was absolutely over the moon.
Im actually glad that, even after the divorce, Mark doesnt forget about his child. Even when Ive had urgent things to take care of, Ive often left our son in his care. My ex would take him to shopping centres or for walks, and sometimes to the cinema. However, our son has never visited his fathers new home.
I always assumed the reason was my exs new wife. Of course, I didnt worry about it muchuntil I received that unsettling message.
Recently, she even took the liberty of calling me. She said I had no decency, because my ex-husband now spends most of his salary on us. I didnt stay silent. I told Mark everything. He was furious. Apparently, he told her quite firmly not to interfere in his affairs, especially not when it comes to his finances.
Nevertheless, I still worry she might eventually persuade Mark to reduce the support he gives our son. If that ever happens, Ill be forced to deny my child many things.
I hope Mark still possesses the kindness, honesty, and goodness that made me fall in love with him in the first place. Life has a way of testing us, but children deserve our unwavering support and love, no matter what paths we as adults choose. Thats the lesson I hold onto as I try to do my very best for my son each day.
