Veronica Was Showing Her Clients Around an Apartment and Everything Was Going Smoothly Until a Mix-Up with the Flooring Turned Things Upside Down
While having dinner with my friend Emily, who works as an estate agent, she shared with me a recent experience shed had in the property business. Shes been going through a bit of a rough patch these days, trying to find new clients. Still, she remained upbeat about some positive developments lately. Balancing her role as a mum to two children and looking after her elderly mother had only added to her challenges.
One morning, the owners of a flat scheduled a viewing for precisely 7:45am to fit in with their work commitments, putting Emily in a bit of a tight spot. Despite her doubts, she agreed, not wanting to miss out on a potential sale. On the day of the viewing, Emily arrived ahead of time and waited eagerly for her clients. They eventually turned up, apologising for being held up by traffic.
Although the clients were somewhat irritable, Emily was determined to make a good impression. When they entered the lift, they asked for the floor and flat number. Emily replied confidently, Sixth floor, flat sixty-six, hoping to put their concerns about the numbers to rest. Even then, she sensed they might still be uneasy.
They rode up and reached the open door of the flat. Thinking it was the owner, Emily introduced herself and apologised again to the clients for the delay. To her surprise, inside was a woman in a dressing gown, who didnt seem to have any idea a viewing had been arranged. Emily was disappointed by the owners lack of communication.
Nevertheless, she chose to make the best of things and proceeded to show the flat, which actually looked far better in person than in the online photos. The clients were genuinely interested. As they were preparing to leave, Emily noticed another door number she hadnt included in the listing details.
Suddenly, she realised theyd accidentally come to the fifth floor, not the sixth as intended. She tried to ring the real owners, but found that her calls had been blocked. The clients were disheartened, but then the flats actual owner surprised everyone with an unexpected proposal.
He explained that he and his wife had already been considering selling the flat to move closer to their parents. Taking this coincidence as a sign, they made a spontaneous offer to the clientsthrowing in a few thousand pounds extra above the value of their own two-bedroom flat, and leaving all the furniture behind.
The clients were thrilled by the deal and happily accepted. This unexpected twist brought satisfaction to all involved: the owners sold their flat and moved closer to family, the clients snapped up a lovely home at a bargain price, and Emily finally pulled herself out of her financial rut. Sometimes, life has a strange way of delivering opportunities just when you least expect it, turning a muddle into a happy ending for everyone.
