While My Friends Buy Flats and Spend on Renovations, My Girlfriend Squandered All Our Savings Trying…

Published

on

My mates are all snapping up flats and splashing out on redecorating, while my girlfriends gone and frittered away all our savings on trying to double our wealth.

Everyone else has a lovely wife, but Ive ended up with a total dunce.

She bragged to the lot of them, saying wed easily get ourselves a flat after the weddingguests would shower us with cash, family would chip in, no problem at all. But in truth, her parents said, seeing as she got it in her head to marry a useless estate agent at twenty, no university or anything, wed have to sort ourselves out with the flat business. They actually laughed out loud about our predicament, and I had no choice but to bring my darling wife back to my mum and dads.

My brother already lives at home with his pregnant girlfriendthere’s barely enough space to turn around. My parents made it fairly clear that it would be grand if we could move, even if it meant a rented place, but I was planning to put money aside for a loan, and hopefully buy a house later on. My wife knew what I intended and kept saying she was desperate to move. So what did she do, after all that? She went and bought shares with our savings.

What for? To multiply our money.

When I told my mum, she nearly fainted. My own heart felt as though it had dropped through the floor, because the value of those shares has only gone down, and it takes ages to be able to sell them. So now, either we take a loss or we hang on, praying and hoping things might get better. And thats itwhile all our friends have settled families and their own flats, weve got shares!

My wifes been crying her eyes out, gutted that she let herself be taken in. She even paid those people to teach her about investing and where to put our money. And as for me, well, I cant help but think about ending it all together. My love clearly isnt strong enough if I cant let go of this whole mess, and all I can think about is the moneyyears of scrimping and saving, and now its just vanished into thin air.

When you look at it, perhaps the marriage was doomed from the first, and this has just made it clear all over again that Im stuck in one endless bad patch, all because I married a foolish girl.
