I’ve Been Married to My Wife for 34 Years, but Now I’ve Fallen in Love with Another Woman—At 65, I’m Torn and Unsure What to Do Next

You know, Ive been married for 34 years now, and yet here I am, finding myself falling for another woman as I get older. Im honestly at a loss about what to do.

So, my names Andrew. Im 65. My wife, Margaret, shes 62. Weve got an adult son, Daniel, whos married with kids of his own.

After Daniel moved out and started his own family, Margaret and I sort of drifted apart. By the time we both retired, I had this idea that we should buy a cottage in the countryside. At first, Margaret really wasnt keen, but I managed to persuade her, and eventually, we got ourselves this lovely little place. That first summer in the countryside, I absolutely adored it. Margaret, though, never took to rural life. She preferred curling up on the sofa with her books or watching TV. She flat out refused to do any gardening, saying she didnt feel up to it. So, I ended up doing everything myself.

When autumn rolled around, we moved back to the city. Margaret was over the moon, thrilled to be back. I, on the other hand, just couldnt settle. After a week, I packed my bags and went back to the cottage. I just felt happier out there. So now, Margaret stays in London, and I see her very rarely.

Heres where things get complicated. In the village, I met someoneher names Susan, shes 60. At first, she didnt seem interested, but now were quite close. I spend almost all my time with her when Im not doing work around the house. Im even thinking about divorcing Margaret, but Im terrified of what Daniel will say. For now, I just tell Margaret that Ive got plenty of jobs to do at the cottage, but the truth is, I simply love spending time with Susan.

Margaret hasnt got a clue whats really going on. I cant bring myself to tell her Im thinking about a divorce. I really dont know what I ought to do next…
