My Ungrateful Daughter: The Business I Built for Her

Published

on

My daughter has turned ungrateful! I handed her the business, and she has forgotten who raised her up!

I’d title my story much like Aleko Konstantinov did, “God save the blind man who has seen.”

Looking back, I see I am not alone in this predicament. History shows numerous instances where children, having been given everything on a silver platter, start to disregard those who have supported them.

I bear no ill will towards my daughter. She can choose her own path.

However, I refuse to continue providing her with a job and profits now that she believes I have no place in the business I built.

I entrusted her with a fully operational business. My entire life has been dedicated to working hard, building, and expanding. I began from humble beginnings and achieved success step by step.

Now, I own a chain of hotels and several restaurants. This has been the fruit of many years of labour, sleepless nights, mistakes, struggles, and triumphs.

As my daughter matured, I decided to pass on part of my work to her. She was clever and ambitious, and I hoped she would take over and enhance what I had created from scratch.

I entrusted her with one of the restaurants, even gifting her a 30% stake in the company.

I introduced her to the business world.

I handed over clients, connections, and knowledge.

But the more she received, the less she seemed to value it.

She came to believe that I was no longer necessary for her.
Over time, her attitude towards me shifted. She began to view herself as the owner not only of the restaurant but of the entire company.

She started meddling in the management of the hotels, making decisions without my knowledge.

It got to the point where, upon entering the restaurant in the morning to grab a cup of coffee and some food from the buffet, she would yell:

“You’re eating at my expense!”

I was taken aback.

“How is it your expense? Didn’t I give you this restaurant? Isn’t this part of the business I’ve built over the years?”

She merely brushed it off.

“This is my restaurant now. I’m not obligated to feed you.”

It struck me that I was no longer speaking to my daughter, but to a total stranger.

She teamed up with travel operators against me.
But that was just the beginning.

She found a way to collaborate with the travel agents, making deals behind my back.

She was the only one privy to the bank details, receiving all the payments herself.

And to me…

She would allocate me a measly sum and toss it at me, saying:

“This should be enough.”

Enough?

For someone who built this business?

Who spent years, nerves, and energy on it?

I kicked her out of the company.
When the season ended, I could no longer endure it.

I called a meeting.

I stripped her of her 30% stake in the company.

I reclaimed control.

I expelled her from the very business I had given her.

She thought I wouldn’t take such a step.

She thought I would tolerate her actions.

She was mistaken.

She sued me… twice!
That was when the real battle began.

She filed two lawsuits.

In the first, she demanded half of the business.

In the second, she sought the return of the 30% I had once given her.

She lost both cases.

Yet, instead of reflecting on her actions, she sought revenge.

My daughter reported me to the tax authorities!
She reported her own father.

As a result, I faced a tax audit covering the last five years.

For an entire year, I was under scrutiny.

A year spent proving my integrity.

A year watching as my own daughter tried to dismantle the business that was meant to be her legacy.

I reminisced about the times I held her tiny hand, teaching her to take her first steps, wishing for her to have the best of everything.

And now…

Now she was poised to destroy me just to gain more.

Gratitude? Care? Family? Don’t make me laugh.
How easily people forget where they came from.

How quickly they forget who gave them their opportunities.

How easily they betray their closest ones.

My daughter forgot who she was.

She thinks she achieved everything on her own.

Well then…

Now she will truly walk her own path.

Without my support.

Without my business.

Without my legacy.

I do not curse her.

But I also do not intend to aid her any longer.

Let her discover what it means to build a life from scratch.

Let her understand what it feels like to have nothing and strive for everything herself.

And all I can do is repeat:

God save the one who suddenly sees…
