Ми з чоловіком одружилися дуже рано, я тільки-но закінчила школу. Павло на той час вже добре заробляв та підтримував родину. Для мене ті суми грошей здавалися космічними. Різниця у віці в нас була шість років.
Майже одразу після весілля я подарувала чоловікові сина. А через два роки – донечку. Ми жили в його двокімнатній квартирі. Впоратися самій із двома дітьми було нелегко, але мені дуже допомагала моя свекруха Ірина Іванівна. Вона завжди приходила на допомогу у потрібний момент. Я їй безкінечно вдячна.
Господинею я була гарною, завжди смачно готувала, в квартирі панували чистота й затишок. Коли донечці виповнилося два роки, я почала працювати в дитячому садку нянею. Зарплата була невелика, проте це були свої гроші.
Згодом я більше зосередилася на дітях, дарувала їм усе своє тепло, а про себе почала забувати. Думаю, багато мам робить таку помилку. Я раділа речам, які віддавали родичі, перестала використовувати косметику та перестала про себе дбати. Помітила, що мій чоловік став до мене холоднішим. Він часто затримувався на роботі, вдома майже не спілкувався. Ми віддалилися один від одного.
Одного дня Павло прийшов додому і зізнався, що увесь цей час зраджував мені і хоче розлучення. Я була шокована і пролила багато сліз. Але моя свекруха не дала мені занепасти: витягла мене до торговельного центру, щоб поновити гардероб. Купівля одягу і косметики допомогли мені відчувати себе краще. Відвідали також салон краси. Я почала знову подобатись собі.
Згодом Павло помітив зміни і повернувся до мене. Все почало налагоджуватися, і до розлучення справа не дійшла. Я безмежно вдячна моїй свекрусі за підтримку.

He paced the hallway, reading off doctors’ names and making comments on each. On completing his ’rounds’, he plopped down next to the girl, still giggling. An elderly woman passing by politely asked him: – Young man, would you please calm yourself? The lad looked at her, baffled, and replied: – Granny’s pregnant too! Hoo-ha-ha-ha… His girlfriend giggled softly, both of them with equally vacant expressions. With some effort, I managed not to start an argument with the pregnant girl. Next, the soon-to-be dad launched into a new topic—food. – I’m famished! Ya-ya-ya-ya-ya… – I’m hungry, and it’ll be another half hour in this queue… – Let’s go get sausage rolls! We’ll come back after! – I don’t want sausage rolls. – You’ve become so picky! Hoo-ha-ha-ha… Everyone’s head was pounding from listening to them, but thank goodness, the pair finally left—I don’t know if they went for sausage rolls or pasties, but that was irrelevant. The important part was that they were gone. With horror, I thought about what kind of upbringing their child would get. Chances are, that child will turn out just as poorly raised.
