Paid Child Support for Years Only to Discover the Child Wasn’t His

You wont believe what happened to my mate, Simon. He wasnt even married to his wife, Emily, for that long just over three years and honestly, looking back, they probably never shouldve tied the knot in the first place. Anyway, they had a little girl together, but after the split they went their separate ways. Even so, Simon always did the right thing and made sure to send money every month to support his daughter. They worked it out between themselves: no messy court stuff, no official maintenance order, just a promise that hed transfer a set amount on the same date every month. And for a while, thats exactly how it all went.

But then, out of nowhere, Simon gets this shocking letter through his post. Turns out, Emily is asking the courts to have him legally removed as the little ones dad. Hes totally floored. And, get this she attaches the results of a DNA test saying Simon isnt actually the father. The biological dad? Apparently, its a bloke Emily had already been married to for years. So, shed been carrying on with two men at once, and Simon had no idea. That means, for the last five years, hes been putting aside a chunk of his salary every month, thinking he was doing what any decent dad should, when actually hes just been lied to the whole time.

You can imagine how gutted he was properly devastated. But what really got to him was the money. After all, if the child never was his to begin with, was he really supposed to keep coughing up cash? English law actually says that if youve got proof, like a DNA test, you can ask to get all that money back. So Simons taking her to court to get every penny hes paid returned to him.
