The Day I Sent My Mother-in-Law Back to My Cheating Husband and His Mistress with Words That Left Them Speechless

Oh, you wont believe what happened with me and my ex-husband, James. Wed been married for seven years, and from the day we tied the knot, I ended up looking after his mum, Mrs. Margaretshed had a stroke, was paralysed on one side, and needed round-the-clock care. At first, I thought, *Well, shes family now, and this is just what you do.*

But I never expected it to drag on for so long and the hardest part? The one person who shouldve shared the loadJamesdid nothing. He worked all day, then glued himself to his phone at night. Hed always say, *”Youre better at caring for Mum than I am. If I try, shell just suffer more.”* I never held it against him.

I thought thats just how life waswife keeps the home, husband brings in the money. Until I found out James wasnt just at work he had someone else.

One day, I stumbled on a text: *”Ill come over tonight. Being with you is a thousand times better than being at home.”* I didnt scream, didnt cry, didnt make a scene. I just asked quietly, *”What about your mum, the one youve ignored all these years?”* James went silent. The next day, he left. I knew exactly where hed gone.

I looked at Mrs. Margaretthe woman whod criticised every meal I cooked, every nap I took, whod said I *”wasnt good enough for her son”*and my throat tightened. I wanted to walk away. But then I reminded myself: *Youve got to keep your dignity.*

A week later, I called James. *”Are you free? Im bringing your mum over for you to look after.”*

I packed her meds, medical notes, and an old care diary into a tote bag. That evening, I helped her into her wheelchair and said gently, *”Mum, Im taking you to Jamess for a few days. A change of scene will do you good.”* She nodded, her eyes bright like a childs.

At his little flat, I rang the bell. James opened the door, and behind him stood *her*wearing a silk nightgown and bright red lipstick. I wheeled Mrs. Margaret into the lounge, arranged her blankets and pillows, and set the meds bag on the table.

The flat reeked of perfume but felt cold and silent. James stammered, *”What what are you doing?”*

I smiled sweetly. *”Remember? Shes your mum. Im just your wife. Seven years of my care is enough.”* The woman behind him went pale, a spoonful of yoghurt halfway to her mouth.

I stepped back calmly, like Id just finished a long-planned task. *”Heres her medical history, prescriptions, nappies, pads, and cream for her sores. Ive written all the dosages in the diary.”*

I put the diary down and turned to leave. Jamess voice rose. *”Youre abandoning my mum? Thats heartless!”*

I stopped but didnt turn around. *”You neglected her for seven years whats that, if not heartless? I cared for her like my own familynot for you, but because shes a mother. Now Im leavingnot for revenge, but because Ive done my part as a decent human.”*

I looked at the other woman and smiled slightly. *”If you love him, love all of him. This comes with the package.”*

Then I dropped the house deeds on the table. *”The house is in my name. Im taking nothing. He only took his clothes. But if you ever need money for Mums care, Ill still chip in.”*

I bent down and stroked Mrs. Margarets hair one last time. *”Be good here, Mum. If youre sad, Ill come see you.”*

Her voice shook as she smiled. *”Yes come see me when youre home again.”*

I walked out, shutting the door behind me. The room stayed silent, thick with perfume and massage oil. That night, I slept peacefully, no dreams. The next morning, I woke early, took my son out for breakfast, and hugged a fresh startno tears, no bitterness.
