Одного дня у коконі з метеликом з’явилася маленька щілина.
Метелик почав поступово крізь неї пробиратися назовні, адже вже довгий час мріяв про те, щоб розправити свої барвисті крила. Поруч проходила людина, яку дуже зацікавило те, що відбувається. Метелик протягом години намагався вилізти назовні, але йому це не виходило. Тоді людина взяла ніж і розрізала кокон. Таким чином вона намагалася допомогти.
Метелик, що опинився поза коконом, був дуже слабким, а його прозорі крила були ще недостатньо розвинуті для польотів. Людина ж і далі спостерігала та чекала, що метелик зараз перетвориться в барвисте чудо й полетить. Але цього не сталося. Так метелик все життя повз по землі та волочив свої прозорі крила. Поза коконом його тіло так і не змогло стати повноцінним.
Людина прагнула допомогти метелику, але все вийшло навпаки. Вона хотіла зменшити шлях до розвитку метелики, полегшити його, але таким чином лише завдала непоправної шкоди. Життя змушувало метелика докласти багато зусиль та часу, щоб стати справжнім дивом. Лише праця над собою допомагає рости та розвиватися.
Зусилля – це те, що найбільш потрібне нам у житті. Якби нам можна було жити, не зустрічаючись із труднощами, ми були б обділені. Ми не змогли б бути такими сильними, якими є зараз. І ніколи не змогли б літати.
