У старій великій квартирі панував незвичайний рух. То й дзенькотів дверний дзвінок, то входив хтось із родичів. Цього разу на порозі з’явився кремезний чоловік у дорогому костюмі, піджаку якого ледве вистачало на випинаючий живіт.
Бліда непоказна жінка кисло посміхнулася йому, а чоловік із дивану підвівся й пішов назустріч.
– Степане! Думав, ти не приїдеш. – Чоловіки потиснули один одному руки. – Сідай, розказуй, як життя.
Жінка незадоволено відсунулася в інший кінець дивана, звільняючи місце для братів.
