Mum, Stop Annoying Dad Every Single Evening!

Published

on

“Mom, stop nagging Dad every night!”

“Mom, I need to have a proper chat with you, just like a grown-up with a grown-up,” Lily, six, said, looking at her mum with a serious stare. Sarah just gave a small nod and asked, “Alright, what should we talk about?”

“What about?” Lily replied, puzzled. “About men.”

“So, who exactly?” Sarah tried to correct her. “Why do you think that?”

“Well, if you’re going to talk about people, you should be clear about who,” Sarah said gently.

“Ugh” Lily groaned. “I haven’t even said my piece yet, and you’re already confusing me.”

“Sorry, love. Tell me what’s wrong.”

“This isn’t what bothers you, it’s actually I’m worried about Dad.”

“What happened to him?” Sarah asked.

“I think you’ve been staying up late with him a bit too often.”

“Do you not get it?” Lily was sweating a little, her face turning a shade paler. “Sweetheart, arent you supposed to be asleep?”

“Of course I am,” she replied earnestly. “But I keep hearing you pestering him with questions: ‘That’s enough, it’s late, time to go to bed, turn off the laptop!'”

“Mum, hes working on his laptop. Hes earning money for both of us£ for my toys and £ for your groceries. Why are you harassing him?”

“Alright, I admit Im being a bother. Youre right, Ill try to be better. Is that all the questions you have? Are we done here?”

“Yes, thats it,” Lily said, nodding.

“Im going to heat up some dinner. Dadll be home from work soon.” Lily ran to the window, craning her neck to spot Tom waving from the driveway. He was still giving her a big grin.
