How Can a Mother Do Such a Thing? She Sent Her Four-Year-Old Son to a Care Home Just Because She Didn’t Want to Treat Him
How can the earth bear such mothers! She sent her little boy to a childrens home because she simply didnt want to care for him, and the lad was only four years old.
I have a dear friend, Alice. Weve been close for thirty years now. Shes truly a wonderful woman and, in my eyes, would have made a marvellous mother, but sadly, children werent in the cards for her and her husband. It just wasnt meant to be, though their steadfast love for one another kept them together through it all.
As for myself, I have two daughters of my own. Alice is their godmothershes my closest friend and lives just down the road. Why not? I remember time and again how Alice would play with my girls, and shed sit with them whenever I needed a helping hand. Afterwards, wed catch up in the kitchen, sharing tears for the children she longed for but never had.
Then, one day, Alice received a call from her relatives. They told her about a distant cousin on her fathers side whod decided to place her son in an orphanage. Evidently, doctors had diagnosed him with a serious condition, and there was no money for treatment. His mother was flightyalways chasing after men, not caring much for her little boy.
Alice told me about the situation, saying she felt a pull to visit the child herself. Later, she confessed to her friend that the moment she saw the boy’s forlorn eyes, she just knew she had to take him in. Her husband, bless him, agreed.
It was no easy road. They spent more than a year taking him to therapists and specialist appointments. The boy, Jack, was autisticbut Alice and her husband did absolutely everything they could to bring him out of his shell.
You may not believe it, but today Jack is 24, a fine young man with a university degree and sporting medals to his name. Just yesterday, I came home from his wedding.
Life sometimes brings pain and challenge, but kindness and perseverance can transform even the bitterest circumstances into hope. The greatest families are those made from love, not just blood.
