I Thought My Marriage Was Perfect—Until My Best Friend Asked Me One Eye-Opening Question

Published

on

I thought my marriage was going well until a friend asked me a question.

I married very young, out of great love. We dated for four years before becoming husband and wife. Weve been through a lot together.

Weve lived together for over six years. I trust my husband completely, just as I trust myself. Hes sweet, caring, and attentive, always helping with household chores. He isnt the bravest or strongest of men, nor would you call him handsome, but he has a strikingly kind soula boundless optimism and faith in goodness that gives me strength to endure lifes hardest moments.

Yet hes indecisive and refuses to step out of his comfort zone. He wont move forward, stuck in his shyness. In all our years together, he hasnt changed at all.

He neglects his health and fears any change. My husband is nearly ten years older than me. Im twenty-six, full of passion for lifeIve a great job, bought my own car, and were paying off the mortgage on our house in Manchester. Then, recently, a friend asked, What do you even need him for?

That was the end of my contentment. Now I sit here, wondering: *What do I really need him for?*

Love isnt just about what someone does for you, but what they inspire in yousometimes, the hardest question is whether you still see that spark.
