I Wanted to Surprise My Husband at Work with Lunch—Then I Overheard a Shocking Conversation at His Office Door

on

I wanted to surprise my husband. I decided to visit him at work and bring him lunch. As I approached his office door, I overheard a conversation that left me stunned.

Im 29. Maybe Im the most naïve woman alive, because until recently, I thought everything in my family was perfect. And I was wrongdead wrong. My husband turned out to be a cheat and a selfish bastard. I still cant believe he did this to me.

Weve known each other for ten years, married for six. His name is Richardkind, caring, always provided for me and the kids. We have two: a son and a daughter. With my help, he built his business from the ground up. It was doing well, bringing in good money.

I worked as a sales assistant. Recently, I even opened my own online boutique selling clothes. So, while my daughters at nursery and my son naps, I work, earning my own keep.

Ive always weighed around eight and a half stone. After giving birth, I gained over three stone. At first, I hoped chasing after two kids would help me shed the weight. But nothings ever that simple. I tried everythingate clean, exercised, drank water by the gallon, cut out bread. Yet the scale wouldnt budge. It crushed me. I felt worthless.

After the second baby, I stopped recognising myself. I didnt feel womanly anymore. And Richardhe changed right before my eyes. He stopped kissing me, holding me. Forget anything else. I couldnt remember the last time we talked about anything real. Our conversations were just logisticswhod pick up the kids, what bills needed paying.

Ill admit itbefore pregnancy, I felt confident. Beautiful. Now, I cant even look in the mirror without cringing. I knew our marriage was suffering because of it. So, I decided to fix things. One day, I planned a surpriselunch at his office. Then, as I reached his door, I heard him say:

*”Dont worry, love. Ill swing by after work. Told the wife Im buried in paperwork. Shes clueless you even exist.”*

I didnt walk in. I turned around and left.

Does he not get it? I gained weight carrying *his* children. Hes no bloody Adonis himselfgot a bit of a gut, but *my* flaws are all he sees.

Now Im left wonderingdoes he think Im stupid on top of everything else?

I couldnt bring myself to confront Richard. What do I do? File for divorce? What about the kids? How do they grow up without a father? Or do I pretend nothing happened? I dont think I can.

For now, Im focusing on me. Joined a gym. First, Ill show him exactly what hes lost. Then well see.
