A Pregnant Girl Begged a Man for Help, but He Ignored Her. What He Did Next Changed Her Life Forever

on

Long ago, on a misty morning in London, my father was driving to work when he stopped at a petrol station. There stood a young, pregnant woman of nineteen, begging for help. She asked him for charity, but he muttered that he had no spare change and turned to leave.

Yet something made him pause. A moment later, he stepped out again and asked how she had come to such a state. The girl, whose name was Eliza, confessed she had quarreled with her parents over choices they disapproved of. She had fallen pregnant out of wedlock, and they had cast her out. My father inquired if she had any work or means to support herself. She had none. After speaking with her, he made a decisionhe handed her his business card and told her to call him the next day.

Eliza did call, and my father arranged to meet her at his office. There, she was given an interview, and within a week, she began as a clerk, answering calls and running small errands. In time, she rose through the ranks, becoming one of the deputy directors. Now, years later, she has a family of her own and lives quite comfortably. Had my father driven away that morning, who knows what might have become of her? But a moments kindness changed everything.
