My brother told me that our mum had laid a hand on his wife, and right away, I sensed something was terribly wrong.

During our holiday, my mum rang me in a frenzy. She couldnt stop crying and was completely beside herself. After hanging up, I got in touch with my brother to find out what had happened. However, he replied sharply, insisting I should ask mum myself, claiming I knew exactly why she was so upset. He even said she was simply getting what she deserved. Feeling confused, my husband and I made the decision to cut our holiday short. Despite the expensive tickets, we rushed home straight away.

When we arrived, mum was visibly shaken and still couldnt settle down. I gave her some chamomile tea to try to calm her nerves, and eventually, she told us about the dreadful incident. Apparently, after coming home from work, she was horrified to see her daughter-in-law covered in bruises, knowing she was pregnant, which worried her even more. Mum immediately went to her, hugged her, and asked what had happened. But just then, my brother came home, and his wife suddenly stood up and began shouting, accusing mum of having assaulted her.

Mum was left standing there, utterly confused and lost for words. My brother, believing his wife’s story, was appalled and threw mum out of the house on the spot. Later, he took his wife to hospital, and sadly, she lost the baby. He refused to hear any explanations, wouldnt speak to us, and held a deep grudge against our mum. But I had a gut feeling there was more to the story, and I trusted mum’s words. Thankfully, the truth surfaced in the most unexpected way.

It turned out my sister-in-law’s friend, who turned out to be a decent sort, told me what had really gone on. She revealed that my sister-in-law had planned from the start to manipulate my brother into kicking out his mum, and that she had deliberately put an end to her pregnancy. When my brother discovered the truth, he was furious and promptly threw his wife out. He then apologised to our mum from the bottom of his heart.

A mothers heart is always forgiving, and despite everything shed been through, mum welcomed him back with open arms.
