No One Will Ever Forget My Son’s Wedding: Two Secrets Were Revealed at the Ceremony
My son has just got married. Of course, hed brought his girlfriend to meet us several times before, and wed grown very fond of her. Shes a polite, modest young womanbeautiful and clever, too. We were truly happy for our son and prepared eagerly for their wedding ceremony.
On the wedding day, my daughter-in-law wore her hair up, with her ears showing clearly. She looked absolutely stunning, and I didnt think twice about it at first. But as the day wore on, I noticed a small mole on her right ear. It was identical to the one my own missing daughter had. The sight left me shaken, and I decided I needed to find out more, just to be sure.
Darling, forgive me for being so direct, but were you by any chance adopted? I asked her softly.
No, I wasnt. Why do you ask? she replied, before getting up to dance.
Her mother, who was seated nearby, overheard our brief conversation and nodded slightly in confirmation. It was clear there was no point pretending anymore. Her parents then admitted that shed been adopted as a little girl.
It turned out that, years ago, they had been driving through the countryside when they spotted a little girl sitting by the side of the road, motionless, crying. They decided, without hesitation, to take her in. After nearly fifteen years of desperately trying to have a child with no success, they finally made the decision to adopt, carrying their secret with them and telling no one.
That same year, I had lost my own daughter. Wed been heading to the market in the centre of London, and I turned away for just a moment. In a city that vast and bustling, a child can disappear in the blink of an eyelike a drop of rain in the Thames. I searched for her everywhere, but after so many fruitless attempts, even hope abandoned me.
And now, my son has married her. My beloved, long-lost child. Can you imagine? Out of millions of people in this country, he found her and chose her.
After this revelation, at first, everything was terrifying. The girls parents fretted, lamenting that the young couple wouldnt be able to have a happy marriage. But I reassured them. After losing my daughter, Id tried to mend my soul and make the world kinder, so I went to an orphanage and adopted a little boy. Truth be told, he chose me as much as I chose him, reaching out to me over all the other visitors. In our own way, we both healed our wounded hearts.
That night, two long-hidden truths came to light from women who loved their children with all they had.
The guests, upon hearing the story, talked about it for hours. A true miracle had taken place!
Do you believe it was pure chance, or was fate guiding our lives all along?
