My Parents Forced Me to End My Pregnancy to Save Our Family’s Honour in Our Village – They Didn’t Care When I Was Later Diagnosed with a Serious Illness, but Fate Ultimately Punished My Father Severely for Ruining My Life

I was a young man when I first crossed paths with this scoundrel. She charmed me with kindness, showered me with flattery, and for a time played the part of the perfect partner. Yet as soon as shed gotten what she wanted, she vanished from my life without a word. The breakup left me utterly broken, but I couldnt have known what consequences our meetings would soon bring. I was stunned to discover shed left me with responsibilities Id never imaginedshe was pregnant.

At first, I couldnt imagine telling my father. But as the weeks went by and her pregnancy became impossible to hidealready four months alongI faced the grim task of confessing everything to my parents. My mother broke the news to my father straight away. From him, all I got were accusations. From my mother, regretful wishes: I wish Id never had you.

Dreading the family shame in our small Hampshire village, my parents made it quite clear what they expected me to do: they pressed for an abortion, despite the danger it posed to her health. I agreed in the end, reluctantly, and in the days that followed I wept bitterly, overwhelmed with guilt for betraying my own child before it had even drawn a breath. I still pray for forgiveness for that decision. Life seemed to grind to a halt. There were dark moments when I thought Id prefer a real death, not just this living one. Yet my parents remained unmoved; their only concern was their standing among neighbours and friends.

After painful months in that stifling home, I finally broke away two years later. I threw myself into university, earned my degree, and eventually built a career that most would envy.

I achieved every dream Id once thought impossible. Still, theres one thing money could never buyfamily. Its the one thing my wealth could never provide. My chance to become a father had long slipped through my fingers. I met women, received a few marriage proposals, but as soon as the truth about my infertility surfaced, theyd disappear without another word. My parents are responsible for this loss. They deprived me of the chance to know the joy of fatherhood. I have no wish to speak with them or even see them again.

When my father suffered a heart attack and my mother begged me to help care for him, I refused. The pain they caused is theirs to bear, and they are wholly responsible for it. I send them money every month to ease my conscience, but I swear Ill never pass on such pain to any child of mine. Parents should stand by their children, not turn away when theyre needed most. My own missed how much happiness they drained out of my life. That is a lesson Ill never forget.
