З життя
At first, the parents were thrilled that their son was bringing home his bride, but when they met her, they asked their son to give up all their gifts!
My friend’s parents worked tirelessly to give their son the best life possible. They made sure he had everything he needed and supported him through every stage of his journey. His mother believed he needed a good start in life, so after he finished secondary school, they gifted him a car, and when he was admitted to university, they bought him a well-kept flat. My friend was a responsible young man who valued his parents guidance and always kept them informed. Still, his mother grew anxious when he reached 27 and showed no sign of settling down or marrying.
While he had dated before, it was never quite what his mother had hoped for. She wanted him to find a steady partner, envisioned him as a groom, and even dreamed of offering the young couple a holiday. She had no idea that meeting his future wife would shatter her expectations. His mother started noticing that her son was always busy on his phone, dressing up more often, and going out on dates. She became excited, thinking that at last he was considering starting a family.
One day, he announced he would soon introduce his fiancée, the woman he intended to marry. His mother, Margaret, eagerly anticipated meeting her future daughter-in-law, confident they would get along. But their shock was immense when, instead of a young woman, they met a 38-year-old lady holding two children. Their son was only 27.
His parents were furious and made it clear they did not approve of the relationship. They insisted that if he wished to marry her, he must return the keys to the flat and the car. He handed them over, telling them he would manage on his own. After that, he cut off all contact with his parents, blocking them everywhere and no longer calling or messaging. Through extended family, Margaret heard about the hard circumstances her son was facing. She believed he would eventually realise how difficult things were and choose not to pursue life with this woman.
Looking back, Ive learned that our lives rarely follow the path our parents envision. Sometimes, the hardest lessons come when we must forge our own way, even if it means leaving behind the comforts we once knew.
