How the Cleaning Lady Bought Herself an Expensive Mercedes

Published

on

Let me recount a tale from some years ago that has stayed with me. I once employed a cleaning lady to tend to my office. She was a kind, diligent woman, always arriving ahead of time and leaving the office spotless in less than an hour. She would finish her work before a single member of staff set foot through the door.

One day, she came to my office to collect her wages. She was dressed smartly, her hair immaculateI hardly recognised her. As she entered, she inquired,

Is it true that your employees get a discount at the local car wash?

Her question caught me off guard. I wasnt quite sure why she was after such a discount, but I assured her it was true and offered her the same benefit. I told her to bring her family along as well, since she was one of our own employees.

You can only imagine my astonishmentno, not astonishment, utter shockwhen she arrived later in a rather expensive Mercedes, her husband and daughter pulling up beside her in cars just as luxurious. I never would have guessed she could afford such things. My curiosity thoroughly piqued, I discovered she actually cleaned twenty offices a day like mine, earning a sizeable income each monthmore than enough for such extravagances! Can you picture it?

Reflecting now, I rather think I ought to take a leaf out of her book and seek her advice on running a profitable venture.
