I believed my marriage was strong, until a friend surprised me with a question

I married really young because I was utterly smitten. Wed been seeing each other for four years before getting hitched went through loads together, you know? Now weve been living together for over six years, and honestly, I trust him and myself completely. My husband, Oliver, is just the sweetest guy caring, thoughtful, always ready to help out around the house. Hes not exactly the bravest soul, and far from someone youd call strong or particularly handsome, but his kindness is incredible. Its like he radiates optimism and belief in people, which honestly keeps me going, especially when life throws curveballs.

Still, Olivers not the best with making big decisions. He doesnt like to step out of his comfort zone or push forward, you know? Hes so timid and really quite proper too. Over these six years, he hasnt changed a bit.

He doesnt bother much with his health or looking after himself. Hes genuinely scared of anything new or any major shift in life. Olivers nearly ten years older than me, and here I am at twenty-six, loving life. Got myself a fab job, bought my own car, and Im paying off the mortgage for our house. The other day, my mate Lucy asked, Why do you even need him?

That question sort of hit me in the gut. Now Im just sat here, asking myself do I actually need him?
