My Sister Dedicated Her Entire Life to Her Children, but When She Fell Ill, Not a Single One Came to See Her…

My sister decided to raise her four kids on her own after her husband cheated on her with a colleague. She hasnt been in any new relationship since. Shes really smart, you knowshes got three degrees, one of them in culinary arts. I remember she used to work in all sorts of cafes and restaurants around town.

She always made sure the kids had whatever they needed. They were grateful, but honestly, they always wanted more. Now theyre grown up, settled down, and started families of their own. My sister still sends them money. Shes been retired for ages, but she keeps working because she says she likes being there for her children. She reckons thats her purpose in life.

Then, she caught the flu, and it quickly got complicated. It turned into a nasty bout of pneumonia that just wouldnt clear up. She had to take time off work, barely scraping by with what she had. Her friends chipped in to help, but her kids only called her mum when she stopped sending money.

They checked in on her, wished her a speedy recovery, and that was about it. Not one of them asked how she was coping financially. When she asked the kids to come and see her, they refused. They all had jobs and families and claimed they didnt have the time for their own mum.

She felt hurt. Shed given them everything she could all her life, and now, when she needed them, they couldnt even be bothered to visit. She stayed in hospital for a whole month. The nurse covered all her medical bills. Eventually, she got better and went back to work. None of her kids called the entire time. I suppose the family must have told them she was all right. It was only after she was discharged that the kids remembered her again.

At first, they asked after her health, but then got straight to the pointthey all wanted money. And not just a bitthey came with specific amounts and deadlines for when she should transfer the funds. Each of them did the same. Not once did they consider how shed get the money, just their own needs.

My sister felt really upset. She never imagined her own kids would treat her like this. Maybe its her own fault, but she pitied herself. When you put your own life aside for others, you expect something back. Maybe she shouldnt have put her kids before herself. She shouldve thought about her future and not just ended up old and alone. But its too late to change anything now.
