When Rebecca Asked Her Father for Money for the First Time, He Was Taken Aback—But He Was Even More Shocked by the Reason His Daughter Needed the Cash

Rebecca grew up in a wealthy family. Her father spared no expense when it came to her wants, buying her everything she ever asked for. Yet, despite this generosity, he spent little time with her. Engrossed in his own business, he worked tirelessly, and when he did come home, it was only to visit his mistresses. It was rumoured that one of them was a woman several years older than Rebecca herself.

When university came around, Rebecca chose to study education, even though her father desperately wanted her to become a dentist. She stood her ground, insisting on her own path.

Throughout her upbringing, Rebecca refused to take money from her father. She lived off her scholarship, proud of her independence. During the summer, she worked at a childrens camp, turning down her fathers offer of an exotic holiday abroad. She simply loved children too much to leave.

One evening, as dusk settled, a coach pulled up filled with children from a local orphanage. All the children raced inside to secure their places, except for one, the last to step downa frail girl whose eyes were far older than her years. Later that night, complaints began to fill the corridors: an unpleasant smell was drifting through the house.

Rebecca, concerned, ventured inside to investigate. She found the sourcethis same girl had hidden pork chops under her pillow after dinner, and they had begun to spoil.

Caught out, the girl glanced at Rebecca with guilty eyes, then whispered, “They’re for my brother.”

Rebecca knelt down. “Wheres your brother?”

“Hes still at the orphanage,” the girl answered quietly.

Upon hearing that, Rebecca immediately called her father. For the first time, she requested his help.

“At last, my daughter has turned to me,” her father thought, worried she must be upset.

“Rebecca, why do you need so much money? Is it for a car?”

“No, Dad,” she replied. “I want to buy as much food as possible for the children at the orphanage.”

Her father smiled, his pride shining through. “You truly have a kind heart, Rebecca.”
