The family becomes increasingly concerned about their nieces behaviour, as her parents have spoiled her so much that she truly believes shes a princess, treating everyone around her like her personal staff. Matters have only worsened with the prospect of her starting school soon, yet she still relies on counting on her fingers.

The problem started from the moment she was born. Every relative felt compelled to help raise her. Her grandmother even moved into her son’s small London flat to help with the newborn. Sadly, rather than offering proper guidance, the adults pandered to her every whim, reinforcing the idea that crying and shouting would always get her what she desired.

By the time she was six months old, the little girl had already learned how to manipulate the adults in her life. This caused a constant state of disarray at home and led to the other family members being neglected. Eventually, her father, at his wits end, decided to move out but continued to indulge her even after the divorce. He showered her with dresses, makeup sets, and shoes as if she truly were royalty. Any attempt from other relatives, or even nursery staff, to address her behaviour met with fierce resistance and loud disputes.

Her upbringing has centred so intensively around this princess fantasy that she has no interest in learning or picking up even basic skills. Now that the start of year one is looming, she is still counting on her fingers and lacks the most fundamental knowledge expected of children her age. Her parents pride themselves on a parenting style that lets their child make every decision with no boundaries, believing it fosters independence. However, her soon-to-be teacher maintains that a child needs some humility and at least a basic understanding of how to converse respectfully with adults.

Exasperated by her rudeness and lack of manners, carers in the family choose to reduce their interactions with her, simply to protect their own peace of mind. They feel it is firmly the parents duty to take responsibility for their daughters upbringing, and teach her at least a few core values and principles for life.
