After Discovering the Truth About My Husband, I Faced a Tough Choice: Should I Report Him or Pretend Nothing Ever Happened?

We fell in love while we were both still at university. Back then, we hadnt two pennies to rub together, not even enough for a bridal bouquet, so my fiancé picked me a handful of wildflowers from the fields. They were lovely. I walked down the aisle already expecting, and after the wedding, we moved into my mothers home. I was still studying, and my mother gave us all the help we needed. In those early days, life with my husband was truly good. We went out together, we raised our son side by side. He was wonderful with the boy, often waking early so the three of us could greet the day together. My husband tried everything to earn a living and take care of us.

He worked for four years at a warehouse as a porter, then decided he wanted to start a shop of his owna little grocers. The business flourished before long. We built ourselves a house and bought a motorcar. There was nothing we denied ourselves. My husband told me to leave my job and tend to our home, and I agreed. Our son went on to graduate from the School of Economics, after which my husband gave him a position as the shops accountant.

But only a few days into his new role, my son brought me dreadful newsmy husband had been unfaithful. I found myself at a crossroads: should I seek a divorce, or simply pretend nothing had happened? I chose silence, hoping my husband would tire of it all soon enough. Two months later, though, he confessed everything to me himself. Worse still, the other woman was carrying his child. My husband insisted he didnt want a divorce, as our lives together were too comfortable to abandon. He proposed to live with her, yet still support me financially and ensure he looked after our son.

Now, theres a hollow ache where my place once was, and I find myself adrift. In my minds eye, I still see our first meeting and that bouquet of wildflowers he once gathered for me.
