After the Divorce, the Husband Outrages His Daughter

Published

on

My daughter and I are currently getting by on the child support from her biological father. Not exactly the glamorous life, is it? Frankly, my ex-husband is the very reason I cant seem to land a job; hes gone out of his way to make sure that no one in this town will hire me. Even when I do manage to get a job, somehow I end up shown the door without so much as an explanation. You dont need to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out who’s behind that one.

All my troubles started the day I filed for divorce. I just couldn’t bear to live with the man for another minute. I yearned for a peaceful splitno dramas, no scenesbut, of course, he fought tooth and nail against the divorce.

After we separated, I took my daughter and went to my parents place for a bit of a breather. While my mum entertained her granddaughter, I tried my hardest to find some work. Truth be told, I had barely any job experiencemy CV was as thin as gruel, with only a stint as a shop assistant under my belt. Other than that, I was completely clueless. The trouble is, my ex was the manager (well, ‘God Emperor’, really) of one of the biggest supermarket chains around, and he clearly used his connections to freeze me out of every job in town.

Not a single shop in our town would hire me and, on the rare occasion I did get a position, before I knew it, I was being let go. My ex would just smirk and swear blind he hadnt lifted a finger, blaming my lack of education and utter incompetence for my continuous string of sackings.

He pays just enough child support to qualify as legal, but lets just say it barely keeps the lights on. Between Mums pension and the pitiful payments from him, we scrape by paying the gas, buying groceries, and keeping my daughter decently clad and semi-sane.

Every time my ex drops by to see our daughter, the humiliation begins anew. He makes a great show of telling her (loudly, for my benefit) that her stupid mother left her wonderful husband and now has to raise her daughter in squalorno proper dinner, no toys, no fun at all. Daddy feels ever so sorry for you, darling,” he coos, before handing over a wad of cash that would make a banker blush, and strutting off like a peacock at a parade.

At first, I let this slide, but honestly, my daughter is only a child. She cant understand why her dad has cash to burn but Mums purse is always empty. Lately shes started saying she wants to live with her father: Daddys ever so lovelyhe buys me everything! Youre just mean and sneaky, so I want to live with Daddy!

I honestly dont know how much more I can take; my nerves are shot to bits. Mum does her best and tells me things will work out in the end, but Im not so sure. My ex knows exactly how to twist the knifehe knows every little chink in my emotional armour. I cant even imagine how Im supposed to keep carrying on at this rate!
