I see, replied Charlotte, darting into the kitchen to grab her phone. After firing off a message to someone mysterious, she sauntered back into the living room. This only made Oliver even more convinced that his wife was up to something questionable. She let him go out for drinks with the lads and on business trips way too easily. She never made a fuss when he staggered home tipsy. His mates all agreed, nodding solemnly over pints, that women like her were rarer than a sunny bank holidayand absolutely no strings attached. But Oliver, bless him, was gnawed by guilt.

He was eight years older than his wife, after all. Was she eyeing up someone younger, thinking he was past it? At least Oliver was sensible enough to keep his suspicions to himself. But come afternoon, Oliver spotted her, usually elegant, lounging in his oversized t-shirt and shorts at the computerplaying an online game. Voices from other players echoed out of the speakers. Apparently, Charlotte was addicted to gaming.

Well, thats not ideal, clearly. But everyone needs a hobby, Oliver reassured himself. He then sped through the rest of the footage, fast-forwarding. Nothing was out of the ordinaryjust computers and chores. And most importantly, not another soul crossed their threshold.

Oliver closed the laptop and exhaled. Now he just felt mortified for doubting his wife. He promptly decided to buy Charlotte a huge bouquet of roses and treat her to a romantic dinner. However, he didnt take down the surveillance cameras not yet. He had no idea that…
