He sent his daughter to a boarding school and promised to bring her a doll in return—all because of his new wife!
Sarah, the girl who was abandoned by her father at a London orphanage when she was only eight years old, finally decides to stand up to him and teach him a lesson. Her mother had passed away early on, and her father remarried, starting a new family with Anna, his second wife, and her two sons. From the moment Anna became part of their lives, everything changed for the worse for Sarah. Her stepmother swiftly forced Sarah out of the family home, claiming her boys needed the extra room, leaving Sarah to live in the orphanage.
As Sarah grew up, she suffered constant abuse from both her stepbrothers and others at the orphanage, all of whom treated her harshly and destructively. On her eighth birthday, her father promised to bring her home and give her the cherished doll she had always wanted, but he broke his word and left her in the orphanage. Despite everything, Sarah held on to hope that her father would return for her, but he never did.
Years later, Sarah decides to take matters into her own hands. She confronts her father at lunch with Anna, demanding answers for his actions and for the doll she had been promised. Even though her father’s guilty demeanour was apparent, Anna tries to brush aside the situation. However, Sarah remains steadfast and determined to uncover the truth and hold her father accountable for the pain he caused her.
Anna attempts to soothe Sarah, but the conversation escalates into a heated argument. Sarah exposes Anna’s role in pushing her into the orphanage and blames her for much of her misfortune. Refusing to be silenced, Sarah reveals the bitterness she has carried for years. Her father, realising the consequences of his decisions and the suffering he inflicted, regrets his choices.
The confrontation with Anna does not lead to reconciliation as Sarah had hoped. Instead, she becomes even more convinced that her father is beyond redemption. Disappointed, she decides to cut ties with him, acknowledging that he will never be a true father to her. Sarah leaves the meeting with a mix of sadness and relief, understanding that it is time to move forward and find her own path in life. The pain and neglect she endured from her father will no longer define her future.
