I decided to bring my mother-in-law to live with us because she was seriously ill.

Since childhood, Ive always been someone whod lend a hand, even to an enemy in their time of need. I never thought my mother-in-law would be one of those people. Despite all the usual stereotypes, shes truly a lovely womankind and polite in every way. Just recently, disaster struck: she fell seriously ill, ended up in hospital, and needed plenty of time to recover once she was discharged.

Without asking my husband first, I brought her home so we could look after her together. I believed hed be pleased that I was taking such good care of his mum, but throughout the drive back, she seemed rather gloomy, as if she wanted to say something but simply couldnt find the courage. Once we arrived, I helped her into the house, made her bed and went off to prepare her some soup. My hope was to make both my mother-in-law and my husband happy.

Unfortunately, it all went awry when my husband came home. The moment he saw his mum resting, he demanded to know why that nuisance was in our house and tried to throw her out. I barely managed to stop him. If it werent for me, my husband truly wouldve sent his own mother away. Were still married, but Im truly disappointed in how he behaved.

Claire was frying meatballs when her husband walked into the kitchen. – “Claire, we need to talk,” Mark declared firmly. – “Talk,” the woman snapped. – “Maybe sit down and listen properly?” Mark’s voice sounded impatient. – “I never… I have to keep an eye on the meatballs,” the wife replied. – “What did you want to tell me?” – “I…” Mark stammered, barely finding words. – “I’ve met another woman… I’m leaving you!” – “Congratulations. I’m really happy for you,” Claire said calmly. – “Do you mean congratulations? Are you happy for me?” the man looked at his wife in surprise.
