Mark Overheard His Son and His Son’s Girlfriend Talking—And Afterwards, Everything in Their Lives Changed!

on

On a fateful day, Mark, a humble labourer from the village, is wandering through the woods gathering dry branches for the fireplace, when he suddenly hears familiar voices coming from behind some bushes. Curious, he peers through the leaves and witnesses a heated argument between a young couplehis son and a girl named Grace. Grace expresses her disappointment that their relationship is still a secret, suggesting they wait yet another month before making any decisions.

Hearing these words upsets Marks son, and Mark turns back for home, already turning over in his mind what hell say to his son later. As he chops kindling and boils some potatoes for dinner, he waits impatiently for his son to return, which surprisingly happens rather soon.

The moment his son walks in, Mark confronts him about hiding Grace. Whats on your mind, son? Why didnt you tell me about your girlfriend sooner? She would make a wonderful daughter-in-lawkind, sensible, exactly the sort of woman any man would hope for. And here you are, treating her so poorly. I wont stand for it! I wont tolerate her being disrespected, even by you! Caught off guard by his fathers outburst, the son mutters something before storming out, grabbing a few apples and slamming the door behind him.

Afterwards, the relationship between his son and Grace, and between the son and Mark, grows strained. Matters worsen after the last meeting with Grace, when she boldly demands that their relationship be made public. Despite his attempts to talk things through with her, it only leads to another row, in which Grace insists that he propose to her.

Fed up with all the turmoil, Mark decides to take matters into his own hands. He visits Graces parents and, without telling his son, arranges for them to marry. They tell Grace that her boyfriend has gone away on a business trip for a few days to buy spare parts for the neighbours car.

When he returns home, the son is startled to find Grace waiting for him. Perplexed, he asks, What are you doing here? Grace replies calmly, I live here now! Werent you planning to marry me? Such surprise marriages are not uncommon in their village.

At first, the son is angry about his fathers interference, but in the end, he realises he couldnt have found a better partner than Grace. The couple grow closer and happier together, and the son eventually comes to appreciate his father’s actions, understanding they were done for their own good.
