So, Rebecca was running late to work again, but honestly, David couldnt have cared less. He always acted like everything revolved around him and genuinely thought he knew better than everyone else. He never missed the chance to dole out his so-called helpful advice. In his eyes, Rebecca was always doing everything wrong and frankly, he just thought she was clueless, no matter the fact shed worked hard for her degree and had plenty to be proud of. David would constantly downplay her achievements as if they werent worth anything. Rebecca used to keep quiet and just put up with his comments, but little by little, the rose-tinted specs she once wore started slipping, and she began to see their life together for what it truly was.

With each passing day, Rebecca grew more frustrated and tired of Davids behaviour. Shed learned to brush off his comments and just go along with his demands to avoid those never-ending lectures of his. But that day, her patience finally snapped. She did what she probably should have done ages agoshe stood up for herself.

That evening, David stumbled into the kitchen after work while Rebecca and their daughter were having dinner. His muddy boots left tracks everywhere, and he didnt bat an eyelid about the freshly mopped floor. Rebecca asked him, calmly but firmly, to please take his shoes off. David just ignored her and carried on. She asked again, this time making it really clear she meant business. The look on his facehe was actually shocked!and it made him absolutely furious.

But Rebecca stuck to her guns, told him exactly where her boundaries were, and made it clear someone needed to question who was really in charge. The whole thing quickly blew up, years of pent-up frustration just boiling over. She didnt hold back, told David straight how rude and dismissive hed been. She reminded him of everything shed accomplished, made sure he knew it, and said if he needed something, hed have to ask in advance because she was done jumping at his every whim.

Letting all this out, Rebecca made it crystal clear she wasnt going to follow his orders, or cook for him whenever he fancied anymore. From now on, shed make her own decisions and do things on her terms. For the first time in ages, she actually felt a weight had liftedshe felt free.

She left the house, bin bag in hand stuffed with the pasta and sausages shed cooked, feeling more confident than ever. David called after her, but she just ignored him. A couple of hours went by before Rebecca came home, soaked through and freezing. To her surprise, David actually showed a bit of care for oncehelped her find some dry clothes and made her a nice cup of tea.

He tried to talk things over, but Rebecca stood her ground, reminding him she wasnt going to put up with his behaviour anymore, and that if he wanted to stay, hed have to change. Otherwise, hed need to leave. That hit home for David, and he realised he ought to make an effort, not just for her, but for their daughter toohe really did love his girls. Rebecca told him if he genuinely wanted to change, hed have to show itand David promised he would.

With this new determination, David actually cooked a lovely carbonara for Rebecca as a peace offering, showing he was serious about turning things around. It was a real turning point for the two of themfinally a glimmer of hope that they could work together for a happier future.
